This past weekend (March 24-26) we had a visit from Aunties Mandie and Krissy. We all enjoyed a walk on the Mendocino Headlands- even Kai didn't protest too much.

Bathtime is getting a little better for Kai. He doesn't scream anymore- it's just a quiet whine to let us know what he thinks. He enjoys lounging in his robe and slippers after getting cleaned up!
On March 18th Kai participated in his first 5k race. Grandma bravely faced the fierce coastal wind for 3 miles while pushing Kai and carrying Maddie (the dog) in a pouch. Auntie Erin and Auntie Monster also came to run the race. Auntie Erin got 3rd place in her age group! It was Auntie Monster's first race and she beat her goal!
Kai is getting used to his new friend, Maddie, the Yorkie. Maddie isn't too interested in Kai since he takes attention away from her; but she does occassionally give him a lick on the head!
Kai is on the verge of smiling (we think). He gives us slight grins when he's waking up and when he's in his play mat.
This is a typical sleeping position for Kai. Sometimes he buries his head in his hands. This was taken during a mid-sleep stretch.
On Friday, March 10th, Kai got a big surprise. He had his g-tube removed since he's been such a good eater. Now we don't have to deal with it getting caught on things all the time. It was a very exciting day.
Kai has been spending lots of time with Grandma Michaels. she is here taking care of him, while Mom goes back to work.
Below are some pics from Kai's Welcoming Ceremony on Feb. 25th. It was such a beautiful day on the coast (minus the wind!). We were able to have the ceremony outside at the Weller House in Fort Bragg. The reception was in the B & B's "ballroom". A dear friend, Marli Shoop was the officiant of the ceremony. The ceremony was complete with readings from The Prophet, promises by grandparents, vows by Kai's mentors, and a public commitment by his parents. It was a very special day for Kai and his family. He is definately not short on people who care for him!
Erin and Erin officially become Kai's mentors by pledging to inspire him as he grows! We know they won't have trouble with that!
At the end of the ceremony everyone gathered in a circle as Rob, Steph, and Kai walked around to each person. Everyone said a personal word of encouragement or welcome to Kai.
